Numerous Vacancies
Appointments to town boards and committees typically are for terms that expire on June 30, so at their July 8 meeting the select board will consider the reappointment of dozens of board members to their posts.
There are also many board and committee seats that are vacant, with no incumbent member seeking reappointment. That category includes two vacant seats on the planning board, one on the recreation commission, two on the open space committee, two on the historical commission, one on the cultural council, one on the commission on disabilities, and a whopping four seats and two alternates on the board of water commissioners — nearly the entire committee.
There is also an elected seat on the housing authority that is vacant; the select board can appoint someone to that seat until the next town election in spring 2026.
Among the people up for reappointments are the chair of the planning board, three members of the board of health, and the entire membership of the Maurice’s Planning Committee, all 11 of whom serve for one-year terms.
