Parking Rules
Free parking in the town’s municipal parking lots will end on May 1. Numbered spaces throughout the town will become paid parking spaces from 8 a.m. to midnight, although cars displaying resident or visitor parking stickers will not have to pay for numbered spaces or the town-owned lots other than the Municipal Parking Lot at MacMillan Pier.
For an extra $95, residents can buy a parking sticker that also includes free parking at the MPL; for nonresidents, the all-but-MPL sticker costs $175 while the MPL-inclusive sticker costs $350.
Resident senior citizens can get free parking stickers, as can board and committee members and firefighters.
The parking spaces at the West End rotary have been temporarily erased because they are being remarked and renumbered to allow more room for cars to pull safely in and out. They are not being “taken back by the Park Service,” as one person alleged on social media.
Parking stickers can be purchased online through the town’s website and delivered by mail, but for those who habitually wait until April 30, they can also be purchased in person at town hall. Don’t forget to bring your driver’s license and vehicle registration with you. —Paul Benson
