Don’t Touch That Dial
Because of a snafu in the audiovisual room at town hall, live video broadcast of public meetings through the town website and local access Channel 8 are unavailable until further notice. People who want to watch meetings without attending in person may still watch over Zoom. Recorded meetings are also available on the town’s YouTube channel instead (go to youtube.com/@townofeastham1874).
Media services coordinator Devin Baker says things went awry two weeks ago, when an IT consultant from Datalyst, LLC, the company that maintains the town’s servers, went into the A/V room because “he wanted to map out all the computers,” Baker said.
“Mike Caliri, the previous media services coordinator, was always trying to keep IT people out of the A/V room,” Baker said. “He kept those computers off the town network, so he didn’t think IT people needed to be that worried about their security.
“I was pretty upset when I came back and he was in there,” Baker said.
After Datalyst’s fiddling, the town’s access to Cablecast and Earthchannel, which handle recordings of meetings for local access television and the town website, was lost. Baker says he’s been working with Cablecast support to fix the problem. —Parker Mumford
