No Contests
The annual town election will be on May 13 — but it will be a relatively sleepy affair as there are no contested races on this year’s ballot.
Select board chair Dave Abramson and vice chair John Golden are the only candidates who filed for the two select board seats they currently hold. Nobody filed to run for an open seat on the board of library trustees, nor did anyone file for a seat on the charter compliance commission that is currently held by Oriana Conklin.
School committee chair Matthew Gunn filed to run again for that board, and fellow committee member Adrianna Stefani pulled papers to run but never turned them in.
As a result, Chelsea Crowe, who appeared set to be a challenger in a three-way race for school committee, is now the only candidate running besides Gunn. Since two candidates will be elected to the two seats on the ballot, it is likely that both Gunn and Crowe will be sworn in for three-year terms on May 14. —Paul Benson
