Water Resources
In advance of a planned overhaul of the town’s website this summer, Truro has redesigned its water resources page to improve access to information on private well and PFAS testing, the joint water resources working group with Provincetown, and Health and Conservation Agent Emily Beebe’s monthly water reports.
Assistant Town Manager Kelly Clark told the select board on March 11 that one goal is to counter misinformation that is circulating in the community.
“We know that Truro has very specific questions about water,” said Clark, noting that the town has both private wells and connections to Provincetown’s municipal water system.
“One of the reasons why we have this very quick and easy-to-submit questions portal is because we — or I — have been hearing a few things going on in the community that are not true,” said board member Nancy Medoff, who is also one of Truro’s three members on the Provincetown Water and Sewer Board. She encouraged residents to check their sources and ask questions through the portal.
The town is working with the engineering company Stantec on its water infrastructure plans, including determining the location for a new water tower, DPW Director Jarrod Cabral told the select board.
Beebe said the town is awaiting a draft of its comprehensive wastewater management plan from the engineering firm GHD. “We’ve been expecting delivery since the end of the year,” Beebe said, “so we’re working with them to try to get that.” —Aden Choate
