Conversation Starters
Town Election
Seven positions will be on the ballot at the town’s May 20 annual election. Interested candidates can pick up nomination papers at the town clerk’s office; signatures must be turned in by April 15.
A four-way race appears to be brewing for the two seats on the select board that are up this year. Select board members Gerald Cerasale and Suzanne Bryan are both running for re-election, and planning board members Dave Hobbs and Brian Earley have pulled papers for that race as well.
Two seats on the board of library trustees are on this year’s ballot, one held by chair Joanna Stevens and one by member Sara Higgins. So far, only Higgins is running for re-election.
Higgins is also running for re-election to the elementary school committee, while the other member of that body whose term is up, chair Ann Crozier, has not yet filed to run. Lindsay Palmer has picked up papers to run for that committee.
Moira Noonan-Kerry is running for re-election to the Nauset Regional School Committee, and no one else has yet filed for that race.
Zoning Meetings
The Zoning Task Force will host a pair of public information sessions at the Eastham Public Library on Wednesday, Feb. 26. The sessions focus on proposed zoning amendments for the North Eastham Business District, which runs along Route 6 from Old Orchard Road to the Wellfleet town line.
The sessions will cover the same material; the two times are meant to make them accessible to people with differing schedules. Food and child care will be provided during the meeting. —Parker Mumford
