Town Election
The annual town election is tentatively set for May 13, with the select board expected to confirm the date at its Feb. 25 meeting, according to acting Town Clerk Nicole Tudor. Once that happens, nomination papers will be available at town hall.
There will be eight seats across six town boards and committees on the ballot this year.
The select board seats held by chair Susan Areson and vice chair Bob Weinstein are both up for election, and Areson told the Independent she will run again. Weinstein said he hasn’t decided whether he’ll run for a fifth term.
Two seats on the seven-member planning board are up for election: those held by Jack Riemer and Paul Kiernan. So are the housing authority seat currently held by chair Elizabeth Gallo, the board of library trustees seat held by Mary Abt, and the school committee seat held by Peter Cook.
The cemetery commission seat held by former select board member John Dundas is also up this year.
If the election turns out to be on May 13, then nomination papers will likely be due to the town clerk around March 25. Potential candidates will have around four weeks from the select board’s Feb. 25 meeting to gather signatures. —Aden Choate
