Winter Wednesdays
Registration for the “Winter Wednesdays” series of enrichment courses, taught weekly from Jan. 21 to March 10, begins on Monday, Jan. 6. The course schedule is now online at winterwednesdays.org.
In addition to a wide range of now-traditional offerings in drawing, sculpting, writing, photography, cooking, yoga, and indoor sports, there are numerous new or unusual classes this year. Continuing a recent trend, there are also more classes being taught in towns other than Provincetown and on days other than Wednesday.
A start-your-own bonsai workshop will meet in Truro on Tuesday evenings. An improv theater class will meet in Wellfleet on Tuesdays, and an improvisational dance class will meet in Eastham on Mondays.
A Qigong class will be on Friday mornings in Eastham, and a puppetry class will be at the traditional time and place in Provincetown. There will also be a “Languages of Cape Cod” class in Provincetown on Wednesday nights that will explore the linguistics and grammar of four Cape Cod languages: Wampanoag, Portuguese, Jamaican creole, and Bulgarian.
The classes are free and open to all residents of the Outer Cape. Course materials are also free, and free child care is available for the in-person Wednesday night classes in Provincetown. —Paul Benson
