New Acting Town Clerk
Town Manager Darrin Tangeman said he had appointed Nicole Tudor temporary acting town clerk after placing Town Clerk Elisabeth Verde on leave last week. He said Tudor would be filling in for Verde “indefinitely.”
Verde started the job in September 2023. She had previously been executive assistant to the town manager in Provincetown.
Tangeman told the Independent that Tudor is familiar with the clerk’s duties because she has been assisting Verde with her work. He said Tudor is “not certified yet, but she’s working toward it.”
The town clerk’s responsibilities include overseeing elections and issuing vital records like marriage, birth, and death certificates. In September, the Independent reported on a serious delay in the issuing of a death certificate by the clerk’s office.
The town website was updated on Dec. 17 to reflect the change. —Aden Choate
