A ‘Big Deal’ for the Cloverleaf
The select board meeting on Dec. 10 saw renewed momentum for the long-delayed Cloverleaf affordable housing development at 22 Highland Road following an executive session of the board on Dec. 5.
Town Counsel Katharine Klein of KP Law reviewed eight key documents related to the project, which is on former state Dept. of Transportation land that was transferred to Truro for affordable housing. Community Housing Resource, owned by developer Ted Malone, is expected to close on its financing and lease agreements by the end of December.
Among the documents Klein presented were a memorandum governing the relationship between the town and the developer and a 99-year ground lease.
Another agreement provides for the town to lease two units at the Cloverleaf as employee housing for 15 years, with the rent for each unit projected at $2,750 per month.
This is a “big deal,” said select board chair Susan Areson, thanking Klein for her work. Areson said the town would announce closing and groundbreaking dates “as soon as we are able.” —Aden Choate
