Three Trailers Full
The police dept. announced on Oct. 11 that it was no longer collecting donations for victims of Hurricane Helene. Since collections began on Oct. 7, Eastham residents had filled the town’s trailer three times over with clothes, toiletries, flashlights, and food.
The collection effort was part of a larger initiative by the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office to collect supplies from Cape Cod towns. C. Carney Trucking transported the donations to Western North Carolina on Sunday.
There may be a need for more donations, though not yet, according to the department’s announcement: “Stay tuned for future collection as needs are determined.” —Parker Mumford
