Early Voting Off to the Races
The state’s primary election for offices other than U.S. president is on Sept. 3, and early voting begins on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the town clerk’s office. It continues Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Friday, Aug. 30 from 9 to 11 a.m.
There are no contested races on the Democratic Party ballot, since Orleans Select Board member Michael Herman dropped out of the race for state Rep. Sarah Peake’s open State House seat in late May. Hadley Luddy, CEO of the Homeless Prevention Council, is the only candidate running for the Democratic nomination.
No Republican filed to run for Peake’s seat, which represents the four Outer Cape towns, Orleans, Chatham, and Harwich. Republican voters can write in a candidate for that office.
There is only one contested race on the Republican Party ballot, for the right to challenge U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren for reelection. Robert Antonellis, Ian Cain, and John Deaton are the Republican candidates for the Senate seat. —Paul Benson
