Conversation Starters
Coastal Flooding Survey
The town’s outreach for the coastal resilience plan (see story on page A9) includes a survey that will be posted on the town’s website until July 18.
The survey asks residents and visitors which places they feel must be preserved in a future flood-resilient Provincetown and what kind of coastal flooding effects they have already experienced. It also asks who should be included in future planning, with an option to send names and email addresses to the planning team.
Fresh Water
Provincetown and Truro are set to have a joint meeting of their select boards on Sept. 30 to discuss the process for siting and permitting additional freshwater wells to serve the two communities.
The aim is to “move forward collaboratively with the location of a new water source,” according to the memo from the Joint Water Resources Working Group, composed of staff from both towns.
The June 17 memo to the select boards recommends having a facilitator at the Sept. 30 meeting.
“We recommend that the municipal organizations of each town strive to learn about and grow past the misunderstandings that exist in both communities about the shared resource,” the memo says.
The meeting is currently set for Truro, and a draft agenda includes discussion of which consultants should be hired to help develop the plans. An agreement on goals could be signed by spring of 2025, the memo says. —Paul Benson
