Preschool Vouchers
Applications are now open for the town’s revamped preschool voucher program, which was approved at annual town meeting in 2023 as a Proposition 2½ override of $175,000. According to an announcement on the town’s website, the program is for families of children living in Wellfleet and is also open to the children of the town’s year-round employees.
The funding is limited, according to Director of Community Services Suzanne Grout Thomas, so the amount of funding per child will be determined by the number of applicants. There will be a cap of $7,000 per child.
Required documentation for applicants include a copy of the child’s birth certificate and a copy of the parent or guardian’s driver’s license. If an applicant owns a home, a copy of a tax bill or property record is required; renters may present a copy of a year-round lease or a utility bill.
