Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, June 4 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
A sighting in Dennis deserves a mention here this week: An American Flamingo was seen at Chapin Beach on Sunday, with multiple observers getting photos of what Mark Faherty in the Audubon’s report calls an “incredible rarity” that he writes must be the same Flamingo that was seen on Long Island, N.Y. on Friday and Saturday.
A Franklin’s Gull passed Race Point in Provincetown on June 1, and other sightings there this week included a Glaucous Gull, a Common Murre, and 2 Black Guillemots. A Yellow-Breasted Chat and a White-Crowned Sparrow were seen at Provincetown Airport.

There was a Pine Siskin in Wellfleet this week.
