Allie the Alewife
The select board approved an application from the Friends of Herring River to use Gull Pond fencing for a “story walk” from May to October.
Laminated pages from Wellfleet resident Barbara Brennessel’s children’s book Allie the Alewife will be posted along the fence to teach visitors about the herring run that stretches through the town.
The D.A. and You
District Attorney Rob Galibois is deploying staff to appear at a meeting at the Wellfleet Public Library at 8:30 p.m. on June 3 as part of his office’s new program, “The DA and Us.”
The program’s stated goal is to organize quarterly meetings in towns across the Cape and Islands to discuss community needs.
“To make sure that our office is providing the support necessary to meet those needs,” the announcement says, “we are calling on members of the community who would want to be involved in these town-based coalitions to join us and be proactive in accomplishing necessary change in our hometowns.”
The event is organized by Galibois’s Community Engagement Officer Kelly Quealy, who can be reached at [email protected]. —Sam Pollak
