Additional Candidates
While the select board election has four candidates vying for two seats on May 29, all other names on the ballot are incumbents running unopposed.
Keith Althaus and Kaitlin Blehm each hope to serve another three-year term as library trustees.
At the candidates forum on May 7, Althaus joked about his longevity on the job, “They say, ‘Wake that guy up, he’s the institutional memory; he might know.’ ”
Robert Masson is running again for cemetery commission, also a three-year term. Masson did not attend candidates night, “but he did want me to let you know that he’s been serving on the cemetery commission for 27 years,” said town Moderator Paul Wisotzky. “I think that Bob is probably the longest standing elected official in Truro at this time.”
Planning board vice chair Anne Greenbaum is seeking reelection to that board for another three years. Greenbaum has been on the board for five years, with more than half of those as chair.
Beverly Miller told Greenbaum that “overdevelopment” of Provincetown was why she left that town. Here, “the space is open,” she said. “How do we keep it in balance?”
The planning board works to preserve balance and “is wide open to feedback all the time,” said Greenbaum.
Vida Richter is seeking reelection to a three-year term on the school committee. There are three vacant seats; incumbents Kenneth Oxtoby and Edwige Yingling are not seeking reelection.
According to town clerk Elisabeth Verde, who cited MGL chapter 50, Section 2, a write-in candidate needs only one vote to win. —Sophie Mann-Shafir
