Eastham Schoolhouse Addition
Article 8G on this year’s annual town meeting warrant asks voters to approve an appropriation of $447,200 to fund the reconstruction of the Old Schoolhouse Museum’s north wing.
The warrant states that the wing has become “overcrowded” and that “it is becoming critical that additional space for the preservation, rehabilitation and restoration be constructed so existing and future items of Eastham History can be properly stored and preserved.”
The article would transfer $200,447 from the Community Preservation Fund’s historic fund reserves and $246,753 from the undesignated fund balance. The select board and community preservation committee both unanimously recommended the article, while the finance committee vote to recommend it was 8 to 1. —Olivia Oldham
