Conversation Starters
Workshop With the Moderator
A workshop on “navigating the town meeting process respectfully and effectively” with Moderator Paul Wisotzky and former state Rep. Dan Winslow will take place on Thursday, March 28 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The session comes ahead of a town meeting that is expected to bring out Truro’s largest ever voter turnout. When Wisotzky postponed the special town meeting in the fall, a crowd booed and interrupted him. The disruption caused concern among municipal officials.
Called “Engage and Empower,” the upcoming library workshop will walk participants through the codes of conduct of town meeting.
Winslow, who was formerly a judge in Wrentham District Court, will introduce “Ten Tips for Town Meeting Civility.” Wisotzky and Winslow want to help participants engage productively “regardless of where you stand on the issues.”
The event is free and will take place at Truro Public Library.
DPW Forum
The town will hold a DPW facility public forum “with the goal of listening to community feedback and discussing questions” on Wednesday, March 27 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Truro Community Center and online.
Plans for the facility will appear on the special town meeting warrant in May. The select board appointed six members to an ad hoc building committee to discuss the facility’s future earlier this month.
Registration for the forum is encouraged. A form on the town’s website asks registrants whether they’ll need child care and whether they have any questions they’d like addressed. —Sophie Mann-Shafir
