Town Meeting Services
Transportation, child care, and assistive listening devices will all be available at town meeting on Oct. 21. Reservations are required by Oct. 17. To schedule a ride to the Truro Central School that morning, residents can call the community services dept. at 508-413-9507. For assistive listening devices or to arrange material in alternative formats, call town hall at 508-349-7004 extension 110 or 124.
Flyers
Town Moderator Paul Wisotzky announced a change in the materials policy for special town meeting this fall. Those wishing to hand out flyers must bring them to Truro Central School between 8:30 and 9 a.m. on Oct. 21, the day of town meeting. They will be made available to meeting attendees at a centralized table in the lobby. People may not distribute flyers to individuals outside of town meeting.
Flyers must be printed on white paper — so as not to be confused with voter cards — and “clearly state who prepared them,” including contact information and the date they were prepared, Wisotzky said at the Oct. 10 select board meeting.
Those distributing flyers are expected to bring enough copies to match town meeting’s expected attendance “because we want everyone to have access to the same information,” Wisotzky said.
He said he hoped the change would “bring some clarity and accountability and maybe make it a little bit easier for people to bring materials to town meeting.”
To confirm that materials are properly formatted, flyers can be emailed before town meeting to [email protected]. —Sophie Mann-Shafir
