Conversation Starters
Community Vaccine Clinic
There will be a one-day flu and Covid vaccine clinic held at the Community Center at 7 Standish Way on Tuesday, Sept. 26 from 2 to 4 p.m. The flu vaccine is available to people age five and up. Doses of the Moderna booster will also be administered “as available.” The Centers for Disease Control recommends that shot for everyone who is at least six months old.
You can make an appointment online on Cape Cod Healthcare’s website, capecodhealth.org, following the link to vaccine appointments and then to the My Chart self-scheduling link, or by calling 508-862-7000 and choosing option 1 from the menu.
Fewer Dump Days
Every fall, the transfer station closes for two days a week as the town winds down for winter. This year, that abridged schedule will begin a month early, Dept. of Public Works Director Jarrod Cabral told the select board on Sept. 19. Beginning the first week of October, the transfer station will be closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
A memo to the board of health from Health and Conservation Agent Emily Beebe explains that the proposal came from Cabral and is needed because of staffing shortages.
