Conversation Starter
A DPW Building Committee
The town is accepting applications for a five-member ad hoc building committee, which will be established to discuss the future of the Dept. of Public Works facility. The select board voted on Aug. 22 to convene the new committee.
The group will discuss the current facility’s condition and plans for its expansion and reconstruction, while also talking about costs, timeline, and site-specific considerations. In addition to updating the select board on its progress, the group will make recommendations on a new facility’s final design.
A virtual tour of the existing DPW facility, with a conversation between DPW Director Jarrod Cabral and Health and Conservation Agent Emily Beebe, is posted on the town’s website.
The committee will be made up of one energy committee member, one climate action committee member, and three at-large members. The select board will make an effort to include people with construction or architectural expertise. Members will collaborate with Cabral, Town Manager Darrin Tangeman, and engineers.
Applications for the new building committee are available on the town’s website. —Sophie Mann-Shafir
