Walsh Property Survey
After more than two years of discussion on how best to use the nearly 70-acre Walsh property, including a forum held on Aug. 16, the Walsh Property Community Planning Committee has put out a survey to gather final input before bringing a conceptual plan to town meeting in October.
As it stands, the draft plan proposes mixed-use development of “Area A”: a 28.5-acre tract at the southwest corner of the property. That proposal currently includes 252 mixed-income housing units, which would meet 60 percent of the affordable housing need laid out in the town’s housing needs assessment, and an outdoor community recreation space. The survey asks for feedback on issues like land allocation, housing, phasing, traffic, and wastewater. It solicits reactions to existing plans as well as additional suggestions.
The committee encourages community members to read through the draft plan for the property before filling out the survey.
The Walsh committee is also seeking to fill a vacancy. Applications are due on Aug. 18 and can be found on the town’s website. —Sophie Mann-Shafir
