Questions About Town Government?
In light of widespread public confusion about the roles of town officials, the town will hold a public forum on Tuesday, Aug. 8 to clarify the responsibilities of different local government sectors.
According to the July edition of the Truro Talks newsletter, the forum will include the select board, town manager, town counsel, town moderator, finance committee, and representatives of regulatory boards, as well as “experienced members of our community representing our Town Meeting legislative body.”
A post from the town says that the panel of speakers “will discuss recent scenarios that might help the community better understand how these bodies collaborate or interact with one another to accomplish the legal responsibilities of our government.”
There will be a moderated question-and-answer period at the event. A survey now accessible on the town’s website allows community members to submit their questions in advance. It also seeks to gauge public interest in and confusion about different facets of town governance.
The session will be held in the select board chambers at town hall. The time has not yet been announced. —Sophie Mann-Shafir
