Conversation Starters
A Fall Town Meeting
A special town meeting will take place in the morning on Saturday, Oct. 21. The select board approved that date at its May 23 meeting, when chair Kristen Reed said that town staff had conducted a poll to gauge meeting time preferences.
The results were “basically split down the middle” between Saturday morning and a weekday evening, Reed said. “The ultimate decision for the date and time of town meeting is made by the moderator,” she added.
The now-approved Oct. 21 date was Moderator Paul Wisotzky’s preference, according to Town Manager Darrin Tangeman. He told the Walsh Property Community Planning Committee at its May 31 meeting that the fall special town meeting would probably begin around 10 a.m., with sign-in starting an hour earlier.
The warrant will open on July 21 and close on Aug. 10. “As always, there will be child care available,” Tangeman said.
Upcoming LCPC Public Forum
The local comprehensive plan committee will hold a public forum at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 15. The meeting will be an opportunity to provide the committee with feedback on the draft of the first two sections of its plan, which “identifies the needs, goals and visions for the next 5-10 years of Truro’s future and translates them into an implementation plan that can be carried out over time,” according to the meeting packet.
The committee’s vision statement and goals and objectives are the two sections ready for feedback.
Child care and food will be provided at the forum. Residents are encouraged to RSVP in advance. —Sophie Mann-Shafir
