Summer Rec Spots
Provincetown’s summer recreation program has enrolled 78 students so far, Town Manager Alex Morse told the select board on May 8 — all of them either Provincetown residents, students at Provincetown schools, or children of town employees.
That leaves just over 40 spaces in this year’s program for members of the general public, including children whose parents work in Provincetown but not for the town government. Those spaces will become available for registration on Monday, May 22.
No official link is posted on the town’s website yet, but interested parents can join an email list by going to the town’s website, www.provincetown-ma.gov, then choosing “Departments,” then “Recreation,” then “Summer Program Information” on the left side. They will receive announcements about the program and a link to register when it becomes available on Monday.
Repairs and Roomies at Harbor Hill
The four apartments that were damaged by a burst pipe in the Feb. 4 deep freeze will be fully repaired by June 1, according to Town Manager Morse. Two of them may be completed earlier than that.
Coastal Construction submitted a $334,948 bid for the work on April 6; it was approved on April 11. Theirs was the only bid received by the town. The work includes insulation, sheetrock, and flooring; electrical work was done before the contract began.
Harbor Hill tenants are also newly approved to have seasonal roommates if they wish. Any lease must be for three to seven months; must go to a person who works locally, not remotely; and must be for less than or equal to half the monthly rent. The year-round tenant must still reside in the unit year-round, and their seasonal roommate must file an application and be screened by the management company before being added to the lease. —Paul Benson
