No Competitive Races This Year
Town election will take place on Tuesday, May 9 at the Truro Community Center — but no candidate who filed nomination papers will lose. Only six people are running for seven positions.
There is only one select board seat on the ballot, and Stephanie Rein, the incumbent, is the only candidate.
Virginia Frazier is running for another five-year planning board term in an uncontested race.
Kolby Blehm of the school committee has no competition for re-election, and neither does Holly Gardner on the cemetery commission.
Melissa Wheeler, the only person seeking election to a five-year term on the housing authority, is also the only non-incumbent on this year’s ballot.
There are two seats to be filled on the library trustees, but just one candidate: Martha Magane, who is seeking re-election. That means someone will be elected to the second seat as a write-in, willingly or not.
A pre-town meeting and candidates night hosted by the town will take place on Thursday, April 13 at 5 p.m. in the Truro Community Center. The last day to register to vote is April 15. —Sophie Mann-Shafir
