I’d Rather Be Blue
Entrepreneurship incubation nonprofit EforAll is holding another pitch contest in Provincetown, this time to generate ideas for Cape Cod’s blue economy.
The term refers to maritime and coastal economic activity, broadly construed. The event description says that “business ideas across a wide range of industries are encouraged.”
The 2019 Community Development Action Plan for the Town of Provincetown, which was prepared by economic consulting firm Camoin 310, suggested that one of the town’s major goals should be to “build and support entrepreneurship in Provincetown’s Blue Economy.”
The deadline to apply for the pitch contest is March 31 at noon. The event will take place on Wednesday, April 19 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in person at the Provincetown Commons and is free and open to the public. Four cash prizes will be awarded, one to a fan favorite by audience vote. The first-place winner chosen by a panel of judges will receive $1,000.
In the past two years, EforAll Cape Cod has sponsored similar pitch contests on the topics of year-round businesses (in 2021) and housing (in 2022). Last year’s panel of judges included local business owners, state Sen. Julian Cyr, and Ted Malone of Community Housing Resource, and the contest winner was given the opportunity to present a pitch to Town Manager Alex Morse.
