Trailers for Nauset High Students
Thirty-six trailers, purchased from the Lincoln public school system, have started to arrive at Nauset Regional High School. These vehicles will become the sophomores’ classrooms starting in January 2023, but there is lots of work to do before then, said Chris Easley, Nauset Regional School Committee chair.
Easley said that the plan is to place the trailers on concrete piers by mid-October in preparation for three years of the high school’s renovation and expansion. Subcontractors will connect water, electricity, and wireless service to each classroom. These efforts will extend through the school’s winter break.
Over the same break, teachers will move their classroom materials to the trailers, where they will begin teaching when students return to school on Jan. 4.
Easley said about 20 of the trailers are already on campus. Delivery can only occur on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays because of Cape Cod summer traffic. The trailers will be used as classrooms for three years, he added.
Aug. 15 Crash Causes Detour
Three vehicles were involved in a rear-end crash on the corner of Route 6 and Hoffman Lane in Eastham at 3:40 on Monday afternoon.
All of the vehicles were headed in the same direction when the rear-most car crashed into the middle one, which then hit the vehicle in front. Three patients with injuries that were not considered life-threatening were taken by ambulance to Cape Cod Hospital, according to Eastham Fire Chief Dan Keane. All three vehicles were towed.
The police shut down a section of Route 6 for approximately 25 minutes to clear the accident scene, according to Daniel Deschamps, the deputy police chief. Police officers detoured southbound traffic down Samoset Road and northbound traffic down Governor Prence Road. Police officers reopened the highway around 4:05 p.m. —Greta Magendantz.
