Sign of the Times
The chair of the animal welfare committee is drafting a sign she hopes will be posted at all the pot shops in town.
Sherry Brec said back in February 2020 that someone suggested the possibility that a poorly pocketed pot-infused edible from a cannabis dispensary could fall on the ground outdoors and then be consumed by a curious canine.
As of last month, when the committee resumed its regular meetings following Covid-19 interruptions, none of the committee members had heard of a pot-enhanced gummy being gobbled up by a pet — none that resulted in a visit to a vet, anyway.
Just to be safe, the animal welfare group wants signs posted at the pot shops warning people to be mindful of where they place their pot treats.
The sign will be about edibles, of course, not marijuana cigarettes.
“Any dog that sees a roach on the beach won’t touch it,” said committee member Loretta Butehorn.
Food Pantry Reopens
The Provincetown Food Pantry at the United Methodist Church has reopened after being closed for renovations. The hours are Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on a drop-in basis. Only one customer at a time is allowed to enter. Registration forms are required and are available at the pantry.
Nonperishable food, with unopened packaging that is in good condition, can be dropped off in the shopping cart just inside the front door of the Methodist Church, according to Nicola Vichert, the pantry manager. —K.C. Myers
