Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, June 22 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
Two Caspian Terns were at Nauset Beach on June 19. That’s Eastham, right?
Immature Bald Eagles were spotted in both Eastham and Provincetown this week. We don’t know how many.
Two Sandhill Cranes were spotted flying over Wellfleet on June 19.
Sightings at Race Point in Provincetown included a Sandwich Tern, a White-Rumped Sandpiper, a Black Guillemot, a Common Murre, 2 Little Gulls, 70 Bonaparte’s Gulls, 6 Lesser Black-Backed Gulls, 85 Roseate Terns, 250 Least Terns, a Great Shearwater, a Sooty Shearwater, and 4 Manx Shearwaters.
