Select Board Reorganized
The select board voted unanimously to reorganize itself at its June 7 meeting, naming Art Autorino as chair, Aimee Eckman as vice chair, and Al Cestaro as clerk.
“I’m not seeking it, but I would be comfortable doing it,” said Autorino.
Eckman’s initial motion for the reorganization was to keep everyone in their current roles, with Jamie Demetri as chair, Eckman as vice chair, and Autorino as clerk.
“I think we have an awesome, well-oiled machine this year,” said Eckman. “We have some really good momentum right now and I’d like to see it go on.”
Instead, board member Al Cestaro suggested making Autorino chair and Eckman vice chair.
“I think we would benefit from a change of the chair to Art,” said Cestaro.
Board member Jared Collins agreed with Cestaro. “We all work very well together as a group anyway, but I do think there’s some sort of overlap in — I don’t want to say camps — but we all have strong opinions and I think it would be useful to the residents of the town if the chair and vice chair had more diversity of opinions,” said Collins.
Demetri said, while the chair position was challenging and rewarding, “So are all our roles. I’m happy to do whatever role I end up in,” she said. —Linda Culhane
