Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, April 27 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
Sightings at Race Point in Provincetown included a Pacific Loon, 7 Common Murres, 120 Razorbills, and a Manx Shearwater. A single Northern Waterthrush and a single Black Vulture were also seen in Provincetown.
On April 22, a single Sandhill Crane was seen flying near Corn Hill Beach in Truro. Two days later, on the 24th, two birds passed High Head in Truro. A single Little Blue Heron was also seen in Truro.
An Eastern Kingbird was a new spring arrival seen at the Wellfleet Bay sanctuary.
A single Black Vulture was the story this week in Eastham.
