Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, Feb. 2 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
Sightings at Race Point in Provincetown included a Pacific Loon, an Atlantic Puffin, 7 Common Murres, a Thick-Billed Murre, 2 Black Guillemots, 110 Black-Legged Kittiwakes, and 12 Iceland Gulls.
A White-Crowned Sparrow was seen in Wellfleet and so were at least 3 Evening Grosbeaks.
Yellow-Breasted Chats and Baltimore Orioles were sighted in Eastham this week. No word on exactly how many or where. Red Crossbill reports continue to be widespread, including 45 at Nauset Beach.
Isn’t anyone in Truro watching the birds?
