The staff of the Provincetown Independent celebrated the completion of Volume 1 of the newspaper on Friday, Sept. 25 with a series of surprise awards, announced by the editor, Ed Miller, at a late afternoon ceremony on the beach behind Whaler’s Wharf in Provincetown.
“We don’t pay them nearly enough for the amount of work they do,” said Miller, “and, unfortunately, the prizes don’t come with any cash. But perhaps, in time, they will have cachet.”
The awards were as follows:
