Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, July 14, included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
Reports from Race Point in Provincetown this week included a Sabine’s Gull, a Black-headed Gull, and a Royal Tern.
North Truro reported a Glaucous Gull.
In Wellfleet there was a report of a Brown Pelican seen from Great Island.
Nauset Marsh in Eastham hosted an out-of-season Harlequin Duck, 3 Stilt Sandpipers, 7 American Oystercatchers, 2 Pectoral Sandpipers, 4 White-rumped Sandpipers, and an Arctic Tern this week.
Seen elsewhere in Eastham: a Yellow-crowned Night-Heron.
