In March, a pair of ravens built a large nest under the eves at Provincetown Town Hall, but then abandoned it — and their eggs –– after a major storm in early April. Ravens are fairly rare on Cape Cod; they’ve been breeding here for less than a decade. The painting crew working on town hall was able to remove the nest. Photographer Elizabeth Brooke, who is a member of the town’s animal welfare committee, rode in the painters’ crane for the occasion and took these pictures. The committee hopes this remarkable nest might find a permanent home somewhere — perhaps at the Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary in Wellfleet — as part of an educational exhibit. For the moment, the nest is in Brooke’s courtyard. (Photos Elizabeth Brooke)
