The first retail marijuana store on the Cape was cleared to open in Provincetown after receiving final approval from the Mass. Cannabis Control Commission on Dec. 19. Curaleaf will open at 170 Commercial St. following final state and local inspections in early 2020, according to an announcement from the company. The company, whose major investors are Russian oligarchs, is based in Wakefield, Mass. Patrik Jonsson, the company president, stated in the written announcement that the Provincetown spot is expected to create over 30 jobs. Curaleaf is now the largest pot company by revenue in the world, following its acquisition of Grassroots earlier this year. They currently operate in 12 states with 51 dispensaries, 14 cultivation sites, and 13 processing sites. —K.C. Myers (Photo K.C. Myers)
