Visiting artist Letha Wilson’s talk at the Fine Arts Work Center, originally scheduled for Friday, Jan. 14, will now be virtual and take place Thursday, Jan. 20, 5 p.m. Registration is free at fawc.org. As part of 24PearlStreet, the Work Center’s virtual writing program, poet and essayist Kim Addonizio will lead a “Word Shop” Monday, Jan. 24 through Friday, Jan. 28, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. With a dozen books to her credit, Addonizio will inspire new poems through class prompts and interactive critiques. The five-day workshop costs $575.

The Center for Coastal Studies will hold a “Field Walk” at Hatches Harbor Marsh in Provincetown on Saturday, Jan. 22, 8 to 10:30 a.m. Biologist Lisa Sette and poet-naturalist Elizabeth Bradfield will lead a 2.5-mile walk over sand and hills to learn about flora and fauna. Marianne Boswell presents “Coming to America … from Afghanistan,” a virtual talk via Nauset Fellowship, on Sunday, Jan. 23, 10 a.m. Boswell, founder of the Lexington Refugee Assistance Program, will describe a community-based approach to resettling Afghan refugees in America. Mick Thyer teaches “Writing for Film, Television, and Visual Media,” a series of workshops at the Truro Public Library, 7 Standish Way. The first of three parts, “Limited Series or Mini-Series,” begins Tuesday, Jan. 25, 6 to 8 p.m. and continues Feb. 1, 5, and 15. Also at the library, Dave DeWitt teaches “Think Ahead Garden Planning” on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 4 to 5 p.m. In the second of four classes, DeWitt will discuss crop rotation and finding the right seeds. The Snow Cinema at Snow Library, 67 Main St. in Orleans, presents a free screening of News of the World on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2 to 4 p.m. The 2020 Western, directed by Paul Greengrass, stars Tom Hanks as a Civil War veteran tasked with returning a young girl, played by Helena Zengel, who has been raised by the Kiowa tribe, to her last remaining family.
