The first week of June is a special time of year out here in this little town at the end of a sandbar. The Strawberry Moon — the first full Moon of summer — rises on June 3. Sagittarius and anyone compatible with that sign (fellow fire signs and the air signs) will feel the enticing pull of her radiance. As an Aquarius, I know I do.
This Moon gets its name from the fact that this is the time of year when berries get plump and ripe, and it signals a time when we get to live deliciously. I took a long walk to Hatches Harbor the other day to embrace some of that richness. All the puddles were filled with tadpoles, birds were singing, trees were blooming, and I counted myself blessed to take it all in — except the pollen, which was suffocatingly thick in the air.
One of the reasons we look to the stars and planets for guidance is they are predictable and true. Their cycles, like the strawberries ripening and tadpoles swimming, connect us to the past and, one imagines, the future. I don’t claim to know what the future holds by any means, but I do know that some things are inevitable, like the rising and setting of the Strawberry Moon, and that if you pay close enough attention, no matter what your astrological sign, you’ll get to see a tadpole become a frog.
