It’s okay if you read this astrology column with a big grain of salt. I write it with one. There’s only so much stock we can put into the intangible, especially when things are so downright challenging here on the material plane.
The beauty of collective reflective devices is that they encourage us to reframe our narratives. In the case of astrology, that happens as we scrutinize celestial objects. In the process, we learn to look at life objectively, and sometimes our observations align with our reality. However woo-woo you think astrology is, there’s no denying that synchronicity is very real, very original Earth magic.
If you felt you were going through it from the end of July into August, then maybe you’re tapped into planetary motions more than you know. This period was marked by a doozy of a conjunction between hot-headed Mars, chaotic Uranus, and the karmic North Node in status quo Taurus.
How’s this for synchronicity: That weekend, conflicts included a Taliban assassination in Kabul, Pelosi triggering China, Russia hinting at nuclear backlash, wildfires, flash flooding, midterm primaries, and monkeypox. Even polio reared its head.
On a local level out here on Land’s End, we’re in the middle of an undeniably weird season. Business is down for many, the tourists are skewing straighter, it’s hotter than usual, and we’re all on tenterhooks about politics and viruses. Personally, I feel pulled in so many directions; maybe you’re feeling the same.
So, how to cultivate a steady state of mind amidst this madness? Let’s start by reframing the narrative. True, the planets are wreaking havoc, but so, too, are they fostering change. We don’t know what the outcome of this change may be, but think of it this way: when things break, it’s an opportunity to reassemble them in a better way.
Planets change positions, and things will shift. As above, so below — or vice versa, depending on how you look at it.
