Covid-19 Update
According to the Mass. Dept. of Public Health’s weekly Covid-19 report, as of Dec. 29 Wellfleet had one new case of Covid-19 within the preceding 14 days. The town has recorded a total of 28 cases and one death from the virus.
Affordable Home Ownership
The Wellfleet Housing Authority and Local Housing Partnership announced their seventh buy down program, which will award a $175,000 grant to one qualified applicant toward the purchase of a home in Wellfleet. The goal of the buy down is to increase affordable home ownership opportunities.
Although there are income qualifications for applicants, those who are interested shouldn’t assume they don’t qualify, said Elaine McIlroy, chair of the housing authority. The Community Development Partnership, which is administering the program, will work with people to determine their eligibility.
All applicants must complete a first-time home buyers course through the Community Development Partnership — the next course begins virtually on Jan. 25. Visit capecdp.org or call (508) 240-7873 extension 10 for details.
Information sessions on the buy down program and on down payment assistance will be on the agenda at the housing authority’s Jan. 11 meeting and also offered online on Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. Application forms will be available at the information sessions. The deadline for applications is Friday, March 5 at 4 p.m.
