Truro COA Presents Jeff Blum, Virtually
Jan 12, 2021 | 8:00 am - Jan 31, 2021 | 8:00 am
A virtual exhibit of acrylics and watercolors by Jeff Blum, sponsored by the Truro Council on Aging, is viewable at jeffblumart.com.
“My family has been coming to Truro since the early 1960s — we’re part of a Baltimore Jewish community that included the artist Herman Maril,” writes Blum in an artist statement. “In 2013, I retired from being a full-time community and political organizer and asked my mother, who had studied with Maril, to teach me to paint.” Blum’s other teachers include Megan Hinton, Peter Chepus, Peter Fiore, Henry Finkelstein, Lisa Goren, and Emily Passman.
Most of the work was painted in Truro this past year — Blum came here from New York to escape Covid. In fact, many of the smaller watercolors were “made in between phone calls for the 2020 election.” Two works are accompanied by poems by Lynne Viti. Blum is donating half of the proceeds to Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill.
