Sal Del Deo’s Exhibition
Jul 29, 2021 | 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Salvatore Del Deo is something of a Provincetown fixture. It is therefore fitting that he should have an exhibition on view through Aug. 15 at the historic Mary Heaton Vorse House, which was recently renovated by designer Ken Fulk.
The exhibition, curated by PAAM CEO Christine McCarthy, consists of more than 50 paintings from throughout Del Deo’s career, arranged throughout the rooms of the house. Del Deo, who is represented by Berta Walker Gallery, grew up in Providence, R.I. He attended Henry Hensche’s summer classes in Provincetown before settling here permanently in 1954. His style ranges from highly realistic to more abstracted, always emphasizing color and composition. Some of his favorite subjects are fishermen, dunes, lighthouses, moored boats, and figures on the beach.
The exhibition is open by appointment, Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 466 Commercial St. in Provincetown. Contact Gene Tartaglia, coordinator of the Provincetown Arts Society, at [email protected].
