‘Now and Then’ at Kobalt Gallery

“Now and Then” is Kate Ryan’s first solo show at Kobalt Gallery, 366 Commercial St. in Provincetown. It opens Friday, Aug. 6, with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m., and runs through Aug. 12. Ryan’s new oil paintings depict quotidian objects and scenes coated with the memory of the past. They use crisp, graphic color to create something that feels both nostalgic and contemporary. “My paintings offer a glimpse at the everyday world around me … those things I see that transport me back in time, while still being about the present moment,” says Ryan in a press release. The gallery is open daily, noon to 6 p.m.; Friday until 9 p.m.; Wednesday by appointment.
