Cross Roads at AMZehnder Gallery

Providence-based artist Mia Cross is exhibiting oil paintings at AMZehnder Gallery, 25 Bank Street #3 in Wellfleet, from Thursday, Aug. 12 through the 24th. Cross is predominantly a figurative painter but takes deep asides in abstraction, often influenced by Sol LeWitt. She sometimes juxtaposes her figures against colorful, geometric lines and textures to give the work a graphic quality. Her works are big, bold, and confident forays into the joys of paint as it advances a narrative. The gallery is open daily, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; closed Wednesdays. There will be a reception on Saturday, Aug. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m.
