EASTHAM — After dropping its opening game, the boys lacrosse team (5-1) reeled off 5 straight wins with 3 victories last week. The Warriors beat Martha’s Vineyard, Groton-Dunstable, and Central Catholic.
Junior Logan Poulin led Nauset with 11 goals and 4 assists, while classmate Joey Berardi tallied 8 goals and 5 assists during the 3-game stretch.
Poulin had 4 goals in a 16-5 win over the Vineyarders last Thursday, and Berardi posted 5 goals and 2 assists in another 16-5 triumph against Groton-Dunstable on Saturday. Poulin and junior Michael Flynn each scored 3 against the Crusaders.
Nauset then notched an 11-8 win over Central Catholic on Tuesday; Poulin had 4 goals and an assist. The Warriors held a 6-5 advantage at halftime, then pulled away with 2 goals in the final 2 minutes of the fourth quarter.
Girls lacrosse (4-1) beat Cape Cod Academy 14-12 last Thursday. The Warriors trailed 12-9 entering the fourth quarter before scoring 5 straight unanswered goals.
Baseball (5-1) had 3 victories, including a double-header sweep of Duxbury High on Tuesday afternoon.
The Warriors started their week with an 8-6 win over Dennis-Yarmouth last Thursday. Senior Chase Beach pitched 6 1/3 innings and drove in a pair of runs, going 2 for 3 at the plate.
Nauset plated 4 runs in the second inning and added 3 in the fourth to build an 8-3 lead. The Dolphins managed to make it a 2-run game but got no closer.
Senior Andrew Dinnan walked twice and scored 2 runs, while Ethan Beer had 2 RBIs on a pair of hits. Junior Ryan O’Keefe earned the save.
The Warriors beat Duxbury 4-2 in game 1 of the twin bill before blowing out the Dragons 9-2 in the back half. Sophomore pitcher Jake Doherty went the distance to pick up the win in the opener, while senior Kieran Handville’s two-out RBI single in the fifth inning gave Nauset a 3-2 lead that they wouldn’t relinquish.
The Warriors scored 9 unanswered runs to cement the game 2 win. O’Keefe tossed a complete game for the Warriors.
Softball dropped a 20-5 decision to Dennis-Yarmouth on Thursday. The Warriors (1-3) played Bristol Plymouth Vocational Tech on Wednesday.
Nauset girls golf dropped to 1-1 on the season with a 4-1 loss to Falmouth at Captains Golf Course on Thursday.
Nauset boys hockey was voted Poland Spring’s The Ice Runs Deep Division 3 Team of the Year. The Warriors, who had a 22-2-1 record overall, won the Cape and Islands Atlantic Division with an undefeated record before falling in the state finals at TD Garden.
