EASTHAM — Last week’s sports schedule was disrupted by wet weather, but that didn’t stop Nauset High’s teams from getting their seasons underway.
Girls lacrosse started the year 2-0 for a second straight season with wins over Mashpee and St. John Paul II on Saturday and Monday. Sienna Reeves scored four goals, and Coral Punch had three goals and two assists in a decisive 17-5 win over the Falcons. The Warriors then edged the Lions 9-8.
Boys lacrosse dropped the season opener at Mansfield 12-9. The new-look Warriors, who lost a season opener for the first time since 2021, trailed 9-3 before mounting a comeback that fell short.
Boys and girls tennis served up wins over Falmouth and Sandwich. The boys (2-0) notched 4-1 victories over the Clippers on Monday and the Blue Knights on Tuesday.
The girls (2-0) had 3-2 wins over both Falmouth and Sandwich. Number 1 singles player Nicole Boyce swept her Sandwich counterpart 2-0 (6-2, 6-2).
Warriors baseball opened the season with a 9-6 comeback win over Bristol Plymouth Vocational Tech. Nauset trailed 4-1 but battled back with a five-run fifth inning. They tacked on an insurance run in the top of the sixth before the pitching staff blanked Bristol Plymouth in its final two innings.
Nauset softball was on its way to a victory on Monday when play was suspended. The Warriors were leading Nantucket 12-7 in the fifth. The teams will finish the contest when the Warriors host the Whalers on May 20.
Nauset sailing beat Monomoy Regional 3-1 at Pleasant Bay Community Boating on Tuesday. The boys and girls track meet last Thursday against Riverview School was postponed to Tuesday.
