EASTHAM — The Nauset High boys hockey team defeated Malden Catholic 2-0 on Dec. 23 behind goals from junior Logan Poulin and sophomore Zach Weiner and a shutout performance in the net by junior Zach Coelho. It was the second straight year that Poulin tallied the “teddy bear goal” in the annual Teddy Bear Toss game, which came at the 3:22 mark of the second period.
The boys followed that up with a tie against Weymouth and a 2-1 win over Scituate, the top-ranked team in Division 3, at the Island Creek Oyster Cup to move to a 4-1-1 overall record. Junior Colin Ward and senior Joe McManus, who scored the game-winning goal late in the third period, tallied for the Warriors.
Nauset/Monomoy girls hockey surged past King Philip 9-1 in their Teddy Bear Toss game on Dec. 23. Junior Carly Brand scored the teddy bear goal just 2:50 into the game.
The girls followed with an overtime victory against North Andover on Dec. 27. Brand notched the game-winning goal on a pass from sophomore Gaby Bassett.
Nauset/Monomoy made it four straight wins after beating East Bridgewater High School 1-0 on Monday. The girls have a 5-1 record.

They were outscored 6-2 in the final stretch but held on for the win.
