EASTHAM — The MIAA Division 3 18th-ranked Nauset girls soccer and 22nd-ranked boys soccer teams are both jockeying for playoff position with just five games remaining.
The girls avenged an early-season defeat to Falmouth with a 1-0 victory last Thursday. The Warriors followed with a 4-1 win at Martha’s Vineyard to improve to 10-2 on the season.
The Warrior boys recorded their second and third straight draws, tying Falmouth and New Bedford on Thursday and Saturday, respectively. They fought to a 0-0 stalemate with the Clippers before letting a two-goal lead slip away in a 3-3 draw against the Whalers. But the boys notched an emphatic 5-1 over Martha’s Vineyard on Tuesday. They led 4-0 before the Vineyarders broke the clean sheet. The Warriors are 8-1-5 overall.
Junior Jack Martin’s 38 led Nauset boys golf to a 247-333 win over Sturgis East Charter School at Bayberry Hills Golf Course on Tuesday. They closed out the regular season against St. John Paul II on Wednesday at Wianno Club with at least a share of the Atlantic Division crown secured.
Field hockey dropped a 4-1 game to Monomoy on Friday before falling 5-0 to Falmouth on Tuesday. The Warriors are 5-7-1 on the season.
Nauset volleyball split a pair of games, earning a hard-fought four-set victory over St. John Paul II at Nauset Middle School on Friday but losing to Falmouth on Tuesday. The Warriors beat the Lions 3-1 (25-22, 25-18, 25-27, 25-21). The five-set loss to the Clippers move them to a 4-10 record.
Boys cross country defeated Falmouth 20-38, while the girls won 15-50 in their dual meet on Tuesday. The boys have a 4-2 record, and the girls moved to 3-3 overall.
